Brief synopsis:

capabiliites to kill to earn the pass

The Road to Aht Urhgan is the ToAU continent access quest.Unlike Chains of Promathia that required mucking around with promyvion, this thing is all that stands in your way of wacky fun on a new continent. And it’s bizarrely well-balanced for jobs of all levels; it’s easy for higher level players while still being possible for the lower ones.

Earning your Sails

The quest is started by Faursel, located in the Tenshodo headquarters in Lower Jeuno. If you do not yet have access to Tenshodo base check here to see how you get in. Faursel is located in the main room. If you have ToAU installed, talk to him and he’ll give you three options – one about shopping, one about asking about nothing, and a mysterious “blank” third option. Select the third option with him.

Talk to him again

Talking to him again without zoning starts the quest. Faursel will give you three options to earn your Boarding Pass: a beginner’s list, an intermediate list, an advanced list, or the rich man’s way out by paying gil.

Select an option and he’ll tell you what that list involves. You don’t have to commit to any one list (except if you pay him gil) so look at all the lists to see what he offers. You only have to complete ONE of the lists in order to finish this quest. So decide what sounds easiest for you.

To complete the beginner’s list, you need to bring him…
These are the subjob items for the both subjob quests. You need six items total, but they’re all dropped by weak monsters. The hardest drop would be the bloody robe from a bogy, but you might be able to solo or know a friend that can smite them for you.

To complete the intermediate list, you need to bring him…
These three are garrison trigger items. They are dropped by specific mid-level beastmen in the beastmen strongholds. Even though you only need three as opposed to six, doing the beginner’s list is still probably easier.

To complete the advanced list, you need to bring him…
OR
OR
Any of those three: a single coffer key, a single testimony, or all three chips will complete the advanced list. Even if you have access to CoP doing the chips is probably a waste of time. Higher level characters are likely to have a coffer key or a testimony just lying around, or if they don’t they can go out and solo mobs until one drops without difficulty. If you’re too low of level to have a shot at these, don’t call your high level friends; just do the beginner list.

The gil you have to pay is 500,000. If you pay it, you’re done, see below for when you try to claim your pass.

Ere’s advice: higher level characters should be able to easily obtain a testimony or coffer key in pretty short time.  Anyone else is better off doing the beginner list. You can get two items in Valkrum Dunes (apron and worm), then go to Gusgen Mines for two more (skull and robe) and finally catch a teleport-mea and pick up the rabbit tail and saliva in Burburimu Peninusla. I helped a guy get all six in less than an hour.

Don’t spend the gil unless you’re pathetic. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. If you’re pathetic I guess you can spend it, but really it’s a pretty simple quest.

Return triumphantly to Faursel and trade him your spoils.

Obtain key item: Boarding Pass

You will obtain the key item: Boarding Pass, which allows you to take a new ship from Mhuara, and the quest will be completed. To the docks!

(note: if you were pathetic and paid the gil, you will be immediately teleported to the Wajaom Woodlands new zone after getting your boarding pass. And you’ll be surrounded by monsters that aggro to level 75s. At least they were nice enough to give you a map to make your way to the city. This only happens once and you can still use the ship as normal.)

To the Docks!

The quest is over; you’ve got your boarding pass. You could probably figure it out from here but I still feel like typing. The ship to Aht Urhgan leaves from Mhuara. Not Selbina, only Mhuara. So head over there now. The city looks the same as it did before, except a new ship shops at the old dock now. The mithra at the dock will tell you which ship is arriving so don’t get on the one to Selbina by accident. Trying to board the Aht Urhgan ship without the pass will just get you left in Mhura again.

Once you’re safely on board, relax. It’s a 15 minute boat ride over the open ocean. There’s not much to see or do except listen to the new music and shake with excitement. You’re on your way to a whole new world. Whooo!!
