The Tavnazian Ring, a ring that teleported you directly to the Tavnaizn Safehold and recharged itself every 24 hours, was arguably the best thing to come out of the CoP missions. The sheer freedom of being able to cross the world quickly made the thing exceptionally valuable.

Apparently in ToAU they decided to just give you the same silly thing for the new expansion as an easy quest and avoid all that tedious mucking around with missions. Hey, I’m not complaining.

Anyway, the quest.

You’re looking for an ancient artifact, which of course means digging. Karah Hobichai at (J-7) of Al Zahbi is selling pickaxes; pick up 8 or so in case you get a few breaks. Then head off to Aydeewa Subterrane exactly the same way as you do when unlocking the blue mage quest. In fact, if you’re clever, you can do this quest and then finish up BLU on the same trip and get a free tele back to town.

Around the area with the blue mage pool in Aydeewa Subterrane are Excavation Site points you can mine. If you check them they give you the “there is nothing out of the ordinary here” message. Thwack away at one until it gives you a key item. The exact key item varies, but this is probably the only quest with a key item here so just take anything you get.

Return to Dkhaaya for another cutscene after getting the strange key item. I actually have no idea how you get out of Aydeewa Subterrane yet so warping back to the city is the safest thing to do.
