Quest Name
Luck of the Draw
Locations:
Aht Urhgan Whitegate, Arrapago Reef, Talacca Cove
Estimated Time
Two hours or so
Special Items:
Lamia fang key, Key item: Forgotten Hexgun
Prerequisites Level 30 job
Brief synopsis:
After a number of cutscenes head to Arrapago Reef for a cutscene,
then to Talacca Cove for a few more.

Corsair is the most dangerous of the three jobs to unlock. You will need to cross very dangerous territory twice and muck around with a locked door that can only be opened by a key that breaks once you use it. Still, with good stealthing skills you should be able to handle this no problem.

NOTICE: this quest used a Lamia fang key. You can get one for free (I’ll explain how in the quest) but only once. After that you need to kill highish level mobs to get more. Because both this quest and two staging points (Ilrusi Atoll and Dvucca Isle) are also behing this locked door you may want to consider doing one of those staging points too. Both are rather long and extremely dangerous routes, but if you’re confident in your ability to sneak and invis around you can get one of those two done solo while doing this quest.)

I’d also like to apologize for the lack of screenshots on this one. The ones I took while doing the quest were awful, just terrible, and I haven’t been back in the area to take better ones yet.

Off to Nashmau now. Take the north ship out of Aht Urhgan to the small city of Nashmau. I’d highly recommend setting your home point here for two reasons. One, getting out of Caedarva Mire / Arrapago Reef is dangerous and time consuming work and two in order to complete this quest you need to return to Nashmau anyway and taking the ferry is a bigger hassle than just warping to Nashmau and using the Olduum ring to get back to Al Zahbi after you’re done. But that’s just my recommendation.

Much like with Puppetmaster you need to cross Caedarva Mire to reach Arrapago Reef. Keep sneak and invisible up at all times to avoid Chigoe aggro. This time you need to make a side trip to get the Lami fang key. The ??? spot with the key is labeled on the map. It's at the far end of a pool of muck. The flesh mobs in the pool are undead so keep sneak up and don't wander around with low HP. Check the ??? with invisible down and you will obtain the Lami fang key. THIS ONLY WORKS ONCE and THE KEY BREAKS AFTER BEING USED so don’t screw around here. Be careful. Careful!

Reapply invisible and keep sneak up and make your way to the zone line into Arrapago Reef

(clean map)

This visit to the reef is a bit longer than with puppetmaster so I’m including a map this time. You will not have the map yourself unless you traded 1000 Imperial standing points to the sanction guard for it. Keep sneak and invisible up to get by the skeletons (sneak) and lamias (invis). The penguin things don’t aggro. Cross the first wrecked ship (this is the one with the ??? where you get the puppetmaster key item) and follow the right wall until you come to a gate. This is the door that you need the Lamia fang key for. After making sure there aren’t any Lamia close, drop invisible and trade the key to the door. The door opens and your key breaks. Quickly get inside and put invisible back up.

You’re now off the official map but not for long. Head west / left to another gate that opens from both sides and doesn’t require any keys. Exit it and you’ll see another ruined ship. This one has the ??? for corsair on it. Drop invisible and check the ??? spot for your cutscene.

Congratulations, you can become a -… bwa ha ha! No, not yet. Still a bit more to do.

At this point you are free to return to Nashmau and continue the quest if you like, but I’d like to once again recommend that you attempt either the Illusi Atoll or Dvucca Isle staging points since you already used your one key to get by that door and getting another one is a hassle. I feel sort of guilty not having a guide up for these staging areas yet so I’ll recommend this site until I do. Not as in-depth as I’d like, and a little screwy on the exact route, but close enough to get you there if you’re good with sneak and invis.

Once you’ve done whatever, return to Nashmau and take the WEST exit out of town. This leads to a graveyard-ish ruin area. There are a few imps in the area, again with true sight, so be careful and make your way to the north where there is a tunnel leading down into Talacca Cove.

I’ve called many areas a hole before, but Talacca Cove is one of the worst holes so far. There are no mobs here so no danger at all. There’s also no map so I can’t give position hints. The whole place is one big completely empty cave with no apparent purpose other than to confuse people trying to complete the darn Corsair quest. Once you enter head immediately to the left until you come to a pile of rocks in front of a tunnel off. Check the ??? on rocks for a CS.
