Brief synopsis:
Save the world.

Well, it all comes down to this. If you’ve been managing to follow the ToAU story up until this point, you’ll realize that the next battle you’ll fight may avert a senseless conflict between the gods that threatens to destroy the entire world. If you’re like everyone else and got bored with the unexplained plot twists and ramblings of puppets, you’ll still have a pretty good idea that you’re in for a fun fight. And the game sure doesn’t disappoint.

Unlike last time, getting this cutscene doesn't lock you out of anything.

If you fail this battle, you need another mythril mirror key item, obtainable from Naja. She'll give you as many as you need, as often as you need them. People helping with this mission don't need the mirror.

This battle’s rough. It’s harder than the last mission of CoP, that’s for certain. You have two main opponents here: one you want to beat quickly before he uses cheap-shot moves on you and one you want to take your time on and chip away at. Strategies used in the first half of the battle don’t work well in the second, and vice versa, so you really need to build a balanced and powerful party in order to complete both trials within the 45 minute time limit.

I highly recommend a reraise earring for everyone, maybe even the mages. You don’t lose exp here and you simply can’t be sitting around wasting time waiting for raises.

Razfahd will sit in the background while the blue mage Raubahn is eager to get his chance to kill you. Well, why disapoint him? Attract Raubahn’s
attention and fight him away from Razfahd.

Raubahn. Oh boy. This blue mage is one tough customer. He has his melee attacks, a few weapon skills, and the blue mage move Eyes on Me. This is a powerful dark-based attack that ignores shadows and hits like a truck. You’re looking at 800+ damage normally, 1600+ when he uses his Azure Lore 2-hour. 1600 damage to a tank with Shell V! I’ve seen as high as 2400 on an unbuffed target. Freaking ouch. The move is fast enough to stun, barely, and he will use Eyes on Me very often so you really don’t want him living very long.

What do you do about Eyes on Me? You know, I tried this battle like ten times, and I don’t have any real solid answers. Dark Carol didn’t seem to help too much. Stunning is effective, but he casts quickly so your window to cast a stun move is very short. If Eyes on Me kills someone too early, it may be easier just to start over, but if it kills someone later you can probably best Raubahn and afford the time resting after.

The second tricky part of Raubahn is that he reraise from the dead twice, each time getting a bit stronger. Each time he returns to life he will say a comment about his body remembering. There’s an order to this and its important.
The goal is not to do the majority of the damage the same twice in a row. So defeat one form using mostly magic and the second mostly physical for example. If the majority of the damage comes from the same source twice in a row, Raubahn will be totally immune to it in his third form, which is bad since his third form is the strongest. He will be immune to a form if he says something about you knowing what it is like to fight a true immortal. If you see this message, you're essentially screwed unless you can damage him effectively with another source.

What you kill him with in his third form doesn’t matter; he’ll stay down.

Raubahn's Move list:
Move
Effect
Seraph Blade
700+ light-based damage, ignores shadows
Circle Blade
250-300 AoE damage, wipes shadows
Eyes on Me
800+ dark-based magic damage, ignores shadows
Azure Lore
BLU 2-hour, increases Eyes on Me damage to 1600+
Lasts 30 seconds
Can use this each time he reraises

Strategy tips for Raubahn:

Once Raubahn has been dealt with, rest up and attack Razfahd. He won’t move and will do mostly holy-based attacks that don’t do too much damage. Razfahd is an intermission - build TP on him and don’t use any significant resources. You will quickly get him down to 50% health, at which point the will use Perfect Defense and a cutscene will start.

Razfahd's Move List:
Move
Effect
Holy II, Banish IV, Banishga III
Light-based magic damage
Dia III, Diaga III
Light-based DoT
Perfect Defense
Used at 50% health
Immunity to all damage
None of Razfahd's moves pose any great threat to your party

When the CS ends everyone will be moved back to the entry area of the room. Razfahd will be replaced by Alexander at 100% health. The battle music will change. This is the final fight! Rest to full then have at it!

This is one of the oddest battles in the game. Alexander is utterly incapable of moving. It can’t even turn to face targets that take hate from its sides. It does do damage to melee targets in range with little lasers, but because it can’t move, a wise tank will keep hate from a distance outside its melee range.

Alexander will bombard whomever had hate with a pretty constant stream of AoEs, which it can use at an extreme range. Its most common attack by far is Radiant Sacrament, a physical-based AoE that does roughly 300-400 damage and has magic defense down. Don’t bother with erase - it just keeps using it.

Alexander can heal itself for roughly 1000 HP using Gospel of the Lost. This is very bad - you don’t have time in this fight for it to be healing a lot. I noticed that Alexander used this move far more frequently when the tank was keeping hate off to the side. So make sure your tank stays in front.

The rest of his moves are in the little box, but the one you should prepare for is Divine Judgment - Alexander’s classic 2-hour move from the old Final Fantasy Games. This is a massive AoE, far bigger in area than its other moves, and does 900-1300+ damage. There seems to be some dispute if this is physical or magical - I insist it’s light-based magical damage. Alexander will use this move at around 50% and again at less than 10% - both times equally nasty. When you see Alex approaching those magic life bar %s it would be wise to keep clear of the tank and be sure to keep him topped off of HP. A tank surviving this move means you can fight some more - failing to survive it will likely result in a wipe.

You can afford a wipe as long as you didn’t muck around too much with Raubahn. 45 minutes is a decently long time and Alexander will never regen hit points when unclaimed. It does have high defense though so its not an easy fight getting it done within the limit. Reduce Alexander to 0 HP and it’s all over. Really long cutscene dealing with the fate of the world and most of the characters. Good job!

Strategy tips for Alexander:

This fight can be frusterating. Raubahn can cause you issues when all you want to do is give Alex another shot, and watching your time tick away when you know you could defeat Alex if you just had a few more minutes is painful. It's not the hardest mission in the game, but it's a tough challenge. Don't give up hope if it takes you more than a few tries to get everything right.

Once you do best Alexander, there are several cutscenes to go to obtain your rewards. Read on, triumphant adventurers!
