Ayep, time for ToAU’s second BCNM fight. This one is actually easier than the first one, if you can believe it.

As usual, the hardest part is getting there. You need to cross over a large part of Mount Zhayolm. I’m going to stop giving you weird workarounds: in order to get to this BCNM you need the halving staging point and at least one person in your party with the cast metal plate to open the Gates of Halvung. If you don’t meet those basic requirements, then do everyone else in your part a favor, stop doing missions for a bit, and at least get the staging point.

I’m not trying to be rude, but really. And yes, I went on this mission with someone who didn’t have the staging point my first time. Sigh.

I can excuse not knowing where the Navukgo Execution Chamber is. Once you get past the Gates of Halvung, head mostly west across the mountain to a (G-7) zone into Halvung. Continue west (invis past the bombs or just run, it’s a very short Halvung zone) back to Mount Zhayolm. Follow the area west and then south to a tunnel, avoiding the powerful moth-like true-sound Wamouras. Once at the tunnel, turn left at the first fork and right at the second and you’ll be at the BC area.

Your enemy in this fight is Khimaira 13. He uses moves like the real Khimaira HNM but generally lacks the teeth of his big brother and any of the really nasty moves like Fulmination. He does attack quickly though so having slow or elegy makes this a much easier fight.

The NPC Shatotto Karababa will assist you in this battle. She will do nothing but spam tier-II ancient magic which will do roughly 600 damage a pop. If she is damaged enough, she will go completely insane and start casting tier-I nukes for absurd damage for a short time. As in, like, Thunder (thunder 1!) for 2400+ damage. Karababa’s insane burst of magic can do 50% of this mobs hit points by itself. She will eventually calm down and go back to ancient magic.

Karababa’s spells all have ridiculous rhyming /say macros. She will also complain to your party members in /say about healing if she gets hit. I’d estimate she has about 4000 HPs, but if she gets wounded to 50% or so she will warp out. This does not result in battle failure; you’ll still win if you defeat Khimaira 13 without her help.

Khimaira 13 Move List:
Move
Effect
Tenebrous Mist
Resets TP to 0%, AoE
Tourbillion
Damage + knockback, AoE
Dreadstorm
Damage + terror, AoE
Thunderstrike
Damage + stun, AoE

Karababa Move List:
Move
Effect
Tier-II Ancient Magic
Flood II, Burst II, etc
Does 550-650 damage
Tier-I nukes
Stone, Fire, etc
Used when Karababa goes into hyper mode
Do incredible damage: 1600-2400
Also weaken Khimaira 13 for a time
The onslaught of these will do 50% damage to Khimaria 13 outright
(tells you to heal her)
May or may not actually require healing

Strategy tips:

Low-manning Shield of Diplomacy

In a way, it’s almost easier to low-man this than take a full group since Khimaira’s moves are all AoEs. My friend and I beat this mission duo easily with him as a NIN/WAR and me as a WHM/SMN.
