Brief synopsis:
After signing up to be a mercenary locate an imperial sentry in one of the five staging areas.




After the novelty of being in a new city wears off you'll probably want to get down to business doing assaults and defending against besiege attacks and earning imperial standing points and all that stuff. In order to get the most out of this city you need to sign up to be a mercenary. Lucky for you, Naja Salaheem is recruiting en mass. So go pay this fiesty kitty a visit. Just watch what you say; that morning star looks mean. She's at (I-10) of Aht Urhgan Whitegate on the upper level. If you can't find her I put her on my Aht Urghgan Whitegate map.

But you're a mercenary yet. Naja's got a little test for you: you have to deliver some supplies to a sentry out in the wilderness. There are five of these places actually and it really doesn't matter which one you go to for the mission's sake, but in the best interest of making it easy for you I recomend you go to Caedarva Mire / Azouph Isle Staging Point. If you've got a party that wants to go to Halvung or something, feel free to ignore the rest of what I have to say and talk to Naja at the end.

... I assume you're still reading because you're taking my advice about Azouph Isle. Cool. Take the ship that docks in the north part of Aht Urhgan Whitegate to Nashmau, and after exploring THAT little hole of a city, exit out the north or east gate.

Into the Darkness, Take Two:


What a depressing place Caedarva Mire is. Always dark skies, sad music, swampy atmosphere and the occasional undead swarm. Well you're not here for a field trip.

Most of the monsters don't aggro. Chigoes and Imps are your main worries. Chigoes, also known as fleas, are nigh invisible, don't show up on radar, and can't be targetted until they start attacking you. They attack FAST but don't hit level 75 characters that hard and any 75 should be able to solo one. For the rest of you, keep both sneak and invisible on yourself since the Chigoes apparently detect with both.

The route in "Ere Pink" there is mostly safe. You won't have this map unless you've done the Prankster quest already. If you're wondering why the route goes off the known map and doesn't just go straight up, that X on the map marks a ledge. Further east of it is a tunnel that connects to another open area. Really, it's not that long of a journey, and if you're keeping sneak and invisible up you should be able to reach the area just north of the staging point within a few minutes.


Imps are the biggest threat on this route. They have true sight (they can see you even if you have invisible on) and check very tough to even level 75 characters. Try to get behind them as you work your way east through the final area. Should you get in combat with an Imp, execute it with the utmost effort. Imps are some unpleasent enemies and fighting them solo without any experience in them is not recomended. They resist dark-based sleep but elemental seal will make it land.


If you sneak by the imps, cool, progress south. If you get aggro and don't think you can win, RUN LIKE HECK SOUTH and reraise there. That long corridor is safe. At the end is a door that leands into an Imperial controlled area. There is an NPC in each one of these staging points, not just the Azouph Isle one. Talk to the NPC to deliver the supplies.

Don't cast warp yet though! There is a thingy called a runic portal in the staging area. You use these to warp into staging areas for assault missions and also to quickly get back to Aht Urghan Whitegate. Checking each portal "attunes you" with it so that you can access it from Whtiegate, sort of like doing a supply run. You can visit all six staging areas and attune yourself to all six runic portals now; no additonal supplies required, just go do it when you have the time. But for now it's best if you attune yourself to this first portal and head back to the city. You have a little more work there anyway.
